Located in Melbourne’s west, Melton is a place of learning that aims to nurture the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. Projected growth in enrolments prompted the need for expansion plans and renewal of the school that will maintain its unique culture while ensuring continuity of daily school life.
Developed through close collaboration with the school board, teachers, and students, our staged masterplan addresses the school’s operational needs, educational priorities, and the community’s vision for a flourishing future. Charting the school’s journey of expansion and renewal across three distinct phases, the design responds to how children think, feel, and learn.
A new library and conference centre—defined by a batik-inspired screen—forms the cultural nucleus of the masterplan, celebrating the school’s Indonesian heritage. Surrounding this, classrooms, canteen, and administration areas are strategically located to improve circulation and access to outdoor learning zones, weaving landscape and learning into one continuous experience.
